The West Ashley Wildcats waltzed into their match Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 67-48 win over Stratford. That's another feather in the cap for West Ashley, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
West Ashley found their leader in underclassman Damani White, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 assists. Those 11 assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Mack, who scored 12 points.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zanquel Baldwin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Baldwin's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Elijah Riley was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
West Ashley pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Stratford, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Ashley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wando at 8:00 p.m. on December 13th. Stratford won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Timberland at 8:30 p.m. on December 13th. Timberland is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
