WOODSTOWN, N.J. -
Woodstown (N.J.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 14-9 victory over
Bridgeton (N.J.) on Saturday. The Wolverines took the lead for good when
Jared Carney threw a touchdown to
Ta'riq Thomas.
The Wolverines led 7-6 at halftime, but the Bulldogs recaptured the lead on a touchdown pass by Carney to Thomas with less than a minute remaining in the fourth.
The loss snapped Bridgeton's four-game winning streak.
Bridgeton's lone touchdown came on a 45-yard punt return by
Cappadonna Miller in the second quarter.
Woodstown came into the game allowing 9.0 points per game. Bridgeton's nine points were well below its season average of 38.7 per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Bridgeton, which notched a 47-26 victory over Cinnaminson in its previous outing.
WHS (10-0) will play a non-conference game against Salem next week. The Rams go into the week with a record of 5-4.
