Olathe North unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell  12-8 to the Spring Hill Broncos on Friday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in April of 2023.
 Paige Williams was a  force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she  pitched five innings while giving up just one earned  (and five unearned) runs off   eight  hits.
 At the plate,  Emily Stipsits and  Lailah Simmons stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Stipsits  went 3-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and one  double, while  Simmons  went 2-for-3 with one  home run and three  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Sophie Herman, who  went 1-for-3 with two  runs, two  RBI,  and one  double.
The  win made it two in a row for Spring Hill and  bumps their season record up to 7-3.
 Olathe North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Spring Hill, they will venture away from home to  take on Lawrence Free State  at 1:30  p.m.  on Friday.
