After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three games, The Long County Blue Tide finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were outmatched by Calvary Day at home and fell 35-0. While losing is never fun, Long County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Calvary Day is ranked 28th).
Calvary Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Smith, who picked up 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jake Merklinger, who threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns.
Long County's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Calvary Day, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Long County will take on Johnson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Calvary Day, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Beach is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
