Even though the Lenoir City Panthers scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, the South-Doyle Cherokees still came out on top. South-Doyle managed a 62-57 victory over Lenoir City. For South-Doyle, this counts as revenge for the 56-30 loss Lenoir City walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
South-Doyle found their leader in underclassman Payton Rollins, who scored 31 points along with five steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Rollins has scored at least 25% of South-Doyle's points.
South-Doyle's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Lenoir City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
South-Doyle will head out on the road to face off against Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Heritage will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Lenoir City will be home for the holidays to greet Powell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Powell is ranked 209th, while Lenoir City is ranked 234th).
