The Northside Rams will challenge the Central Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Northside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.3 points per game this season.
Northside is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Wenonah just ended the team's 14-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 45-43. The game marked the Rams' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Despite their loss, Northside saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Alaina Sweatt, who posted nine points and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Sweatt continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kamryn Knowles was another key player, putting up 16 points.
Meanwhile, Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They really took it to the Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-14 win. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.
Central's win came from a few key players that Northside will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kelly Eubanks, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leziya McCruter, who earned nine points and eight steals.
Northside's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 16-3. As for Central, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's matchup: Northside has made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having averaged 8.5 threes per game. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 three-pointers. Given Northside's sizable advantage in that area, the Falcons will need to find a way to close that gap.
