The West Point Dragons will take on the Dobson Mustangs at 3:35 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
West Point is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Cesar Chavez 15-4 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Dragons have won by exactly 11 runs.
The team relied heavily on Ellah De La Riva, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. BrielleRosalia Philip was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: West Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Dobson got the win against Apollo on Thursday by a conclusive 13-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Allie Hanson made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kiley Beard and Mersades Torres did most of the damage at the plate: Beard got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, while Torres went 4-for-6 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lilly Flick, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
West Point's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Dobson, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. West Point has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. However, it's not like Dobson struggles in that department as they've averaged .634. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
