The Hillside Hornets entered their tilt with the Millbrook Wildcats with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Hillside blew past Millbrook, posting a 81-50 victory on the road. Given Hillside's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Millbrook is ranked 313th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Samiyah Barker, who scored 22 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Hillside's points. Another player making a difference was Sa?nya Horton, who scored 15 points.
Despite the loss, Millbrook had strong showings from Lauren Brown, who scored 17 points, and Ariana Morris, who scored 15 points. Morris continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Graham, who scored 2 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
Hillside's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Millbrook, they have fallen quite a ways from their 20-8 record last season and are now at 1-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillside will take on Cresset Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Millbrook, they will play host again and welcome Broughton, where tip off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
