The Scott Central Rebels will square off against the Puckett Wolves at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Scott Central's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
Scott Central hadn't beaten Pelahatchie on the road since March 24, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Rebels put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 15-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Kadelyn Washington made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Washington was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Deja Boyd was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Taniyah Body, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Scott Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Puckett's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Union by a score of 6-5.
Like Scott Central, Puckett also got a great game from a two-way player: Lila Murphy. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Murphy has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, Myla Vanderford made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Scott Central's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Puckett, their loss dropped their record down to 21-4.
Both Scott Central and Puckett just can't seem to miss. The Rebels have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Puckett struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Scott Central suffered a grim 19-9 defeat to Puckett in their previous matchup back in April of 2016. Will the Rebels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
