The Lakewood Cougars lost against the Anacortes Seahawks back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Lakewood opened the new year with a less-than-successful 49-38 defeat to Anacortes. Lakewood has not had much luck with Anacortes recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Lakewood lost, one person who can't be blamed is ALAINA JONES. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. JONES set a new season high mark in blocks with three. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankee Powers, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Anacortes, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Lakewood will take on Sehome at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Anacortes, they will head out on the road to face off against Squalicum at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
