Allentown Central Catholic is a perfect 10-0 against William Allen since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Allentown Central Catholic is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Whitehall on Tuesday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Zephyrs. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Zephyrs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, William Allen had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over East Stroudsburg North on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Canaries considering their one-run performance the game before.
Yassine Zekkaria was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Zekkaria was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jorge Inoa and Daniel Rivas did most of the damage at the plate: Inoa went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Rivas got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave Rivas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Davien Orozco, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
William Allen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Stroudsburg North only posted a batting average of .158.
William Allen's record is now 3-14. As for Allentown Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Allentown Central Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like William Allen struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Allentown Central Catholic took their win against William Allen in their previous matchup last Monday by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
