Columbia has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Middleburg Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Columbia can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by Fort White at home to the tune of 56-20. With Columbia ahead 43-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Columbia relied on the efforts of ZURI HOLLIE, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds, and JOLENA GARDNER, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. GARDNER hasn't dropped below two steals for 14 straight games. Another player making a difference was ERICKAH ROBERSON, who scored no points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Middleburg had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past Wolfson, posting a 50-23 win on the road.
Columbia's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Middleburg, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Everything came up roses for Columbia against the Broncos in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 70-22 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Columbia since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
