The Lamar Raiders suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2023 on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 67-42 walloping at the hands of Simpson Academy. Lamar has not had much luck with Simpson Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the loss, Lamar still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Hart, who scored 15 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Zion Huggins, who scored 12 points.
Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Simpson Academy, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lamar will take on East Rankin Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. East Rankin Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Simpson Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Park Place Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Park Place Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Simpson Academy is ranked 28th).
