Make it ten blowout wins for the Vienna Eagles this season. They claimed a resounding 83-31 win over Zeigler-Royalton at home. The victory was nothing new for Vienna as they're now sitting on four straight.
It was another big night for Owen Treat, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Jackson Ethridge was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Zeigler-Royalton lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being River Freeman, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase VanHoorebeke, who scored eight points.
Vienna is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Zeigler-Royalton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vienna won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Goreville at 6:45 p.m. on January 6th. Goreville is on a three-game streak of home wins, Vienna a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Zeigler-Royalton, they will head out on the road to challenge Sandoval at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Sandoval is ranked 650th, while Zeigler-Royalton is ranked 646th).
