The Golden Valley Cougars fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Atwater Falcons on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. Golden Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Atwater apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played on January 8th.
Despite the loss, Golden Valley still got an impressive performance from Braden Castleton, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Castleton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jeff Tangaan, who scored six points.
Golden Valley's loss dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Atwater, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-11.
Golden Valley will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against El Capitan at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully El Capitan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Friday. As for Atwater, they will head out on the road to challenge Central Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Central Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 last Friday.
