The Spring Lions fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Benjamin Davis Falcons on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 57-54. Spring's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, Spring still got an impressive performance from Darrell Payton, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Payton pulled down eight or more rebounds. Cedric Richardson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Spring now has a losing record at 15-16. As for Benjamin Davis, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-9.
Spring will head out on the road to face off against MacArthur at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. MacArthur is coming into the match with nine straight losses at home, meaning Spring will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. Benjamin Davis will take on Dekaney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Benjamin Davis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Dekaney likes a good challenge.
