On Friday, the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans faced the Legacy Longhorns in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cimarron-Memorial took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Legacy. Cimarron-Memorial has struggled against Legacy recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Cimarron-Memorial still got an impressive performance from Gerald Patterson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 44% of Cimarron-Memorial's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Brown, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Rahjon Chambers was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points for Legacy. Chambers hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Maven-Bell Toleafoa, who scored ten points.
Cimarron-Memorial's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8. As for Legacy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Cimarron-Memorial will head out on the road to square off against Canyon Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Canyon Springs is ranked 36th, while Cimarron-Memorial is ranked 22nd). Legacy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Desert Pines at 10:30 a.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Desert Pines' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
