Escondido is 0-10 against Westview since May of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, Escondido came up short against San Pasqual and fell 8-3.
Kendall Workman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Westview got themselves on the board against Ramona on Tuesday, but Ramona never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Bulldogs. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.
The result came thanks to Kaya Rodriguez's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Westview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Peake, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Peake has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Westview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in seven consecutive games.
Westview's record now sits at 13-4-2. As for Escondido, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Escondido hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Westview struggles in that department as they've averaged .348. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Escondido might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Westview in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
