Softball Recap: Bishop Verot's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bishop Verot put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Southwest Florida Christian King with a sharp 10-3 victory. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly seven runs.

Paige Bettermann and Crimson Lawrence were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Bettermann tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Lawrence struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). What's more, Bettermann gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Bettermann got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Lawrence scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs Bettermann has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Willa Pagnutti and McKenna Robbins did most of the damage at the plate: Pagnutti went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run, while Robbins scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Pagnutti is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Riley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Bishop Verot always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest Florida Christian only posted an OBP of .345.

Bishop Verot's record is now 3-0. As for Southwest Florida Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Bishop Verot will be taking part in a tournament against Evangelical Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Evangelical Christian will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Bishop Verot surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southwest Florida Christian, they will welcome Seacrest Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
