The Falcon Falcons and the Fruita Monument Wildcats squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Falcon Falcons had to settle for second. Falcon was outmatched by Fruita Monument on the road and fell 50-12. While losing is never fun, Falcon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Fruita Monument is ranked 34th).
Carter Thorp threw for 69 yards on seven of 14 attempts. Ethan Mangrum was his top target, picking up 57 receiving yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fruita Monument to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amari Wilson, who rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 100 yards and a touchdown. Wyatt Sharpe was in the mix as well, providing Fruita Monument with two touchdowns.
Falcon has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Fruita Monument, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.
Falcon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fruita Monument will head out on the road to face off against Broomfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Broomfield is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
