South Bend Clay is 5-0 against the Trailblazers since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The South Bend Clay Colonials will head out on the road to face off against the South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully South Bend Clay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
South Bend Clay pushed their score all the way to 55, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 65-55 to South Bend St. Joseph. South Bend Clay has struggled against the Indians recently, as their game on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tyrese Jones, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelin Webster, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Bend Career Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Mishawaka Marian, falling 73-25. While losing is never fun, South Bend Career Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 391st, while the Knights are ranked 90th).
South Bend Clay now has a losing record at 8-9. As for South Bend Career Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
South Bend Clay didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Trailblazers in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 95-90 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Bend Clay since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
