The Thornton Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Adams City Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Thornton is ranked 251st, while Adams City is ranked 255th).
Thornton won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were beaten by Skyview 72-25. Thornton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-20.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 22% better than the opposition, a fact Adams City proved on Monday. They walked away with a 56-45 victory over Aurora Central. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Adams City.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Adams City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Morgan Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Williams has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernanda Hernandez, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals.
Thornton's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Adams City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-8 record this season.
Thornton came up short against Adams City in their previous matchup on Friday, falling 57-52. Can Thornton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
