Last Tuesday, Academic Magnet had to suffer through a rough 69-20 loss at the hands of Bishop England. Academic Magnet was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-12.
Holly Manning was Academic Magnet's leading scorer, having posted 15 points.
Grace Reuben held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.
Cliffie Manuel took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Meanwhile, Lake Marion beat Academic Magnet 50-41 on Friday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Marion to victory, but perhaps none more so than Teonna Allen, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Allen hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jimyria Green, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Academic Magnet has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Lake Marion, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Academic Magnet have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lake Marion struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
