Wheat Ridge took a serious blow against the Eagles, falling 71-29. That's two games in a row now that Wheat Ridge has lost by exactly 42 points.
Wheat Ridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lyric Ashford, who scored eight points, and Julie Jackson who scored five points.
Dakota Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maryn Talyat out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, nine assists, and nine steals. Talyat is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hannah Galbreath, who scored 22 points.
Wheat Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Dakota Ridge, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheat Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Hornets at 11:00 a.m. on January 27th. As for Dakota Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Gators at 6:00 p.m. Standley Lake's defense has only allowed 29.4 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them.
