Ragsdale and Southwest Guilford are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ragsdale has six straight wins, Southwest Guilford has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Ragsdale's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Western Guilford 13-0. Considering the Tigers have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ryan Hendricks was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden McGill, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Ragsdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Southwest Guilford and Northwest Guilford have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Cowboys took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.
Southwest Guilford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Morgan, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Ragsdale's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Southwest Guilford, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ragsdale has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Southwest Guilford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Ragsdale skirted past Southwest Guilford 3-1 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cowboys turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
