Softball Recap: Valders Has No Trouble Against Roncalli

Valders's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Roncalli Jets as they made off with a 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Megan Hochkammer spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Valders let Audrey Wagner and Arianna Hernandez run wild. Wagner got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI, while Hernandez went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Wagner has posted over her last 11 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Kaderabek, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Valders pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Roncalli, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Coming up, Valders will host Sheboygan Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Roncalli, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-1 loss against Brillion on the 29th.
