Northern Durham dropped their record down to 8-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Chapel Hill Tigers, falling 10-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 4-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Chapel Hill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14th (when they won 10-0).

For Chapel Hill's part, not much got past Doug McLaren, who gave up just three hits to keep Northern Durham off the board. McLaren has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chapel Hill let James Staats and Austin Campos run wild. Staats went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Campos went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Chapel Hill is 5-1 when Campos posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jason Krieg, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chapel Hill beat Northern Durham by a score of 12-0 later that day.
