After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gary West Side, the Calumet New Tech Warriors were happy to have found some success on Monday. They walked away with a 74-65 win over Calumet Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Calumet New Tech's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Hudson, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. It was the first time this season that Hudson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Eric Allen, who scored 17 points along with eight assists and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Calumet Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brad Nymeyer. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Isaac Wahl was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Calumet Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calumet New Tech only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Calumet New Tech has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. As for Calumet Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-15.
Calumet New Tech has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Illiana Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Calumet Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against the Red Ramblers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
