Basketball Recap: Galeton Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from TREY SYKORA and GAVIN SHUTT

Galeton lost against Williamson two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Galeton Tigers came up short against the Williamson Warriors, falling 69-49.

Galeton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of GAVIN SHUTT, who posted 16 points, and TREY SYKORA, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points and six boards. The dominant performance also gave SHUTT a new career-high in blocks (two). LUKE KNISELY also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first rebound of the season.

Even though they lost, Galeton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Williamson only pulled down seven offensive boards.

Williamson was led to victory by Jack Nolan and Maddox Hartman. Nolan went 9 for 15 on his way to 29 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals, while Hartman went 8 of 13 en route to 18 points along with eight assists and seven steals. The matchup was Nolan's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Watson, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 10 points.

Galeton has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Williamson, their victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-16.

Galeton has already played their next game (against Coudersport), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Williamson will face off against North Penn-Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Penn-Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season.
