The Mission Eagles can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past Economedes 59-7 on the road. The result was nothing new for Mission, who have now won three contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
Mission's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Diego Salinas led the charge by throwing for 247 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Aparicio, who gained 136 total yards and four touchdowns.
Mission's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Ivan Muniz and his three sacks.
Mission's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Economedes, their defeat was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mission will take on Pharr-San Juan-Alamo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 212 points over their last five matches. As for Economedes, they will play host again and welcome La Joya, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. La Joya comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
