Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for First Academy

First Academy extended their home winning streak to six games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Ashlyn Neiford. The First Academy Eagles slipped by the Redeemer Christian Lions 37-36 on Monday thanks in part to Neiford, who posted 11 points along with five steals and five blocks. She is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tahira Williams, who earned ten points. Selena Martin was another key player, putting up nine points.

First Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Redeemer Christian, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

First Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-18 defeat against Merritt Island Christian on the 17th. Redeemer Christian has also already played their next game (against Varsity Opponent), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
