The Huntington Park Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 81-69 to Animo Venice. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (56), Huntington Park still had to take the loss.
It was another big night for Rashad Johnson, who scored 35 points along with three steals for Animo Venice. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Turner Jr., who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Huntington Park has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for Animo Venice, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-9.
Huntington Park will head out on the road to take on Garfield at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Garfield's favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home while Huntington Park has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Animo Venice will take on Simon Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
