The Bonny Eagle Scots are taking a road trip to take on the Gorham Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bonny Eagle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Bonny Eagle didn't have quite enough to beat Marshwood and fell 5-4.
Bella Hanson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits.
At the plate, Neveah Hagerman and Leah Storey stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hagerman went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Storey went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Emma Twomey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
Meanwhile, Gorham waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Blazes a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Rams have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Adyson Hutchins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Winnie Dubail, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Gorham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Gorham's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bonny Eagle, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bonny Eagle hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Gorham struggles in that department as they've averaged .334. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bonny Eagle might still be hurting after the 23-12 loss they got from Gorham in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Scots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
