If the Negaunee Miners were feeling good off their 75-43 takedown of Gladstone on Tuesday, that ride came to an abrupt end. Negaunee fell to the Marquette Redmen 61-54. The Miners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Marquette apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played, back in January.
The defeat dropped Negaunee's record to 15-2. The victory was the ninth in a row for Marquette and raised their record to 16-3.
Negaunee is on the road again on Wednesday and plays against Westwood. Negaunee won't have the home-court advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings. As for the Redmen, they will face off against Gaylord next week. Marquette's scoring has been on the decline the past four games, which is obviously a trend Gaylord hopes will continue.
