Clairemont is 7-1 against Canyon Hills since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Chieftains will be playing at home against the Rattlers at 4:00 p.m. Clairemont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Clairemont managed to slip by Mira Mesa the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Chieftains lost 12-4 to the Marauders on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Chieftains have suffered since May 10, 2024.
Camryn Walton and Lucy Brickner did some serious damage despite the final result: Walton went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Brickner went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that Brickner has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Maelea Silao, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Canyon Hills got themselves on the board against Madison on Thursday, but Madison never followed suit. They blew past the Warhawks 9-0.
Avery Maddox and Hal'E Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Maddox went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Martin got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two doubles gave Maddox a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariah Washington, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Canyon Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison only posted an OBP of .062.
Canyon Hills is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Clairemont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
Both Clairemont and Canyon Hills just can't seem to miss. The Chieftains have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Canyon Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clairemont came out on top in a nail-biter against Canyon Hills in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 8-6. Do the Chieftains have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rattlers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
