Richmond has gone 8-2 against Jack Britt recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. Richmond is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Richmond got the win against Pinecrest by a conclusive 15-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.
Richmond got a great performance from Madee Pearson as she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Pearson has posted since back in March.
At the plate, Hayden Robinson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jakayla Steele, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Richmond hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Jack Britt came up short against Lumberton on Tuesday, falling 12-4. The loss continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost nine in a row.
Jack Britt saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kailey Crenshaw, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Jack Britt's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Richmond, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Richmond has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. However, it's not like Jack Britt struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Richmond couldn't quite get it done against Jack Britt in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 17-12. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
