While it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, The Meadowcreek Mustangs were not quite the Duluth Wildcats''s equal in the second half on Friday. Meadowcreek fell 29-21 to Duluth. Meadowcreek was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Duluth apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Danirion Moxey, who rushed for 87 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Sevon Smith was in the mix as well, providing Meadowcreek with two touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Duluth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amari Degraffenried, who rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Craig Killings, who rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
This is the second loss in a row for Meadowcreek and nudges their season record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Norcross (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 83.3% over those games). As for Duluth, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Meadowcreek will look to defend their home field on Friday against Berkmar at 7:30 p.m. As for Duluth, they will head out on the road to face off against Peachtree Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Peachtree Ridge will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
