Softball Recap: Saline Has No Trouble Against Dexter

After only one run in their last contest, Saline made sure to put some runs up on the board against Dexter on Monday. The Hornets put the hurt on the Dreadnaughts with a sharp 13-1 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Abby Curtis looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Saline got a massive performance out of Lucy Winters, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Winters has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Shelton, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Saline kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Saline is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Dexter, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-4.

Coming up, Saline will take on Chelsea at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dexter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Belleville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
