Hilldale is 7-2 against Fort Gibson since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hilldale Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Fort Gibson Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Hilldale is ranked 133rd, while Fort Gibson is ranked 114th).
Hilldale can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They secured a 20-14 W over Madill. The victory was just what Hilldale needed coming off of a 35-7 loss in their prior matchup.
Hilldale can attribute much of their success to Gage Rowland, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for ten yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Meanwhile, even though Sallisaw scored an imposing 48 points on Friday, Fort Gibson still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Fort Gibson made off with a 49-48 win over Sallisaw. The win was just what Fort Gibson needed coming off of a 48-14 defeat in their prior game.
Parker Lockhart was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 passes. Jaiden Johnson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 4-5.
Everything came up roses for Hilldale against Fort Gibson in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 64-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hilldale since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
