Shoshoni has struggled against Rocky Mountain recently, as their contest on Saturday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Shoshoni saw an underclassman step up: Kaylor McConnaughey scored five points along with five steals. McConnaughey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played.
Shoshoni struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are 1-2 when they can't control their own glass like that.
Rocky Mountain found their leader in underclassman Lauren Bassett, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Keylee Christiansen was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
Shoshoni's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for Rocky Mountain, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8.
Shoshoni will head out on the road to face off against Greybull at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Wyoming (Shoshoni is ranked 60th, while Greybull is ranked 54th). As for Rocky Mountain, they will be playing at home against Wind River at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Wind River will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Rocky Mountain surely won't give up without a fight.
