The Wheatmore Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 21st straight defeat. They were beaten by Southwestern Randolph 51-24. Wheatmore has not had much luck with Southwestern Randolph recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Wheatmore saw an underclassman step up: Robert Nyamongo scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Weston Driggers, who scored two points along with four blocks.
Southwestern Randolph got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marcus Robertson out in front who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Adkins, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Wheatmore's defeat was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Southwestern Randolph, their win bumped their record up to 8-15.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Uwharrie Charter the next time they take the court. Wheatmore will host Uwharrie Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Southwestern Randolph will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
