Tyler Bruggman threw for four touchdowns as
Brophy College Prep (Phoenix, Ariz.) beat St. Mary's (Phoenix, Ariz.) 58-6 on Saturday.
The Broncos were up 38-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Bruggman to
Devon Allen in the first quarter.
Brophy College Prep expanded its lead to 46 points entering the fourth quarter. BCP scored two times in the third, including once on a Bruggman touchdown pass to Allen.
With the win the Broncos extended their winning streak to five games. Brophy College Prep defeated the Knights 35-21 last week.
Lukas Treffers played well for the Knights. The senior wide receiver ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
St. Mary's' lone touchdown came on a 32-yard run by Treffers in the third quarter.
BCP entered the contest giving up 20.8 points per game this year. The Broncos held firm on the defensive front, and kept SM well below the 33.4 points it had been averaging per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 63-0 win for Brophy College Prep.
The loss comes after St. Mary's defeated Maryvale 50-0 last week.
In a I Section I game next week St. Mary's (3-5) takes on Tolleson, and Brophy College Prep (7-2) will go up against Westwood in a I Section III game.
