The Dudley Panthers and the Hickory Red Tornadoes squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Dudley Panthers had to settle for second. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 42-41 to the Red Tornadoes. Dudley's loss signaled the end of their 14-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Dudley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrew Attmore II. Despite the final result, he threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Nasir Newkirk also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Leading Hickory to victory were Brady Stober and Isaiah Lackey. Stober threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, while Lackey rushed for 182 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jamien Little, who picked up 52 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Dudley's loss dropped their record down to 14-1. As for Hickory, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-0.
Dudley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hickory will take on Seventy-First at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seventy-First has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 372 points over their last eight matchups.
