The Downers Grove North Trojans had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.9 points), and they went ahead and made it 13 on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 53-37 victory over Proviso West. Given Downers Grove North's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Panthers are ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Kaitlyn Parker, who scored 18 points along with five assists and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games she's played. Ann Stephens was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Downers Grove North is on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 21 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season. As for Proviso West, they dropped their record down to 6-16 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Downers Grove North will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Proviso West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
