Cristo Rey's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a rough 71-42 loss at the hands of Maimonides. Cristo Rey has not had much luck with Maimonides recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Maimonides' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaindle Kaplan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Kaplan scored 15 or more points. Shiraz Sage was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Cristo Rey bumped their record down to 0-2 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. As for Maimonides, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cristo Rey will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Notre Dame Cristo Rey at 4:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Maimonides will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pioneer Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
