Basketball Recap: Red Mountain Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

If Mountain View wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Red Mountain, they should've done a better job of containing Payton Westra. The Red Mountain Mountain Lions secured a 55-51 W over the Mountain View Toros on Thursday thanks in part to Westra, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 19 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in December of 2024.

The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Johnson, who posted 11 points in addition to six boards and five steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Several Toros players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Fischbeck, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Christensen, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 12 points.

Red Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Mountain View, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 12-7 record.

Red Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-22 defeat against Gilbert on the 24th. As for Mountain View, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 53-46 victory against Dobson on the 28th.
