Basketball Game Preview: Merritt Island Christian Cougars vs. Titusville Terriers

The Merritt Island Christian Cougars will take on the Titusville Terriers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Merritt Island Christian's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Titusville has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Last Tuesday, Merritt Island Christian ended up a good deal behind City of Life Christian Academy and lost 63-44.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Summer Snaith, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Julia Rhodes, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Merritt Island Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-28, which was the final score in Titusville's tilt against Viera on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Terriers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while the Hawks are ranked 163rd).

Titusville's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Merritt Island Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Everything came up roses for Merritt Island Christian against Titusville when the teams last played back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 66-26 win.
