The Bristol Central Rams will face off against the Farmington River Hawks at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Bristol Central blew Bristol Eastern out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Bristol Eastern got their revenge. The Rams fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 7-5. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Farmington). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Goodwin RVT a 20-0 shutout on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the River Hawks with their most commanding win of the season.
Chase Clay was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Clay was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Farmington let Justin Kinney and Will DiLella run wild. Kinney went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while DiLella went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits DiLella has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Xzavior Clark, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Farmington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Farmington is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Bristol Central, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Bristol Central was able to grind out a solid win over Farmington in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, winning 6-3. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the River Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
