After two games on the road, Central City is heading back home. They will take on the Schuyler Warriors at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Central City is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Schuyler in Nebraska (Central City is ranked 28th, while Schuyler is ranked 255th).
Last Thursday, Central City earned a 52-40 victory over Ravenna.
Ayden Zikmund was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Colter Lueders, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Schuyler, who are still winless after their tenth game. They took a serious blow against Aurora last Friday, falling 67-24. Schuyler was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-14.
The losing side was boosted by Daniel Maiz, who scored ten points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Schuyler struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Central City pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Schuyler, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: Central City have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 45.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Schuyler, though, as they've only made 30.9% of their threes per game this season. Given Central City's sizeable advantage in that area, Schuyler will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Central City against Schuyler in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 78-45 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Schuyler's Gavin Bywater, who scored 20 points. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Central City to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
