This season hasn't been kind to the Design Tech Dragons, who are still winless after their eighth match. They were dealt a 83-49 defeat at the hands of Basis Independent Silicon Valley on Tuesday. Design Tech was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-19.
When it comes to explaining why Design Tech lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bassam Karadshe. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points. That was a full 46.9% of Design Tech's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Eddy Yee was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Basis Independent Silicon Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Robert Ji, who scored 20 points along with eight assists and eight steals. That's the first time this season that Ji posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Wang, who scored 19 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Design Tech's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Basis Independent Silicon Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Design Tech won't have much time to rest: their next match is against The Nueva School at 7:20 p.m. on January 10th. The Nueva School has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Basis Independent Silicon Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Apostles Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Apostles Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
